I’m somewhat irked by hot hatch tests that don’t feature a Mini.

Why? Mini doesn’t offer anything in this class. First there’s the size issue. All cars in the video are compacts, the Mini is a subcompact. Then there’s power, even a John Cooper Works Mini is slower than the slowest in this test.

It’s still very much a ‘hot hatch’ and checks all the necessary boxes to easily be considered one.

Maybe we need to have a separate delineation for ‘Hot Hatch’ and ‘Halo/Pony Hatch’.

I don’t disagree it’s a hot hatch at all, but there are a lot of hot hatches in the subcompact class (in Europe), and none of those were featured in the video.

I can imagine they’re going to do another one of these tests for subcompacts, featuring the hot versions of the Mini, Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, DS3, VW Polo, SEAT Ibiza, Audi A1, Opel Corsa and others I might’ve missed.

THey havent released the JCW yet and the Cooper doesn’t compete in the same class, maybe a JCW Clubman.
